I had a leak a few days ago that seemed pretty bad. I thought it was either tranny or powersteering. I climbed under it and looked everywhere, but couldn't pinpoint it. I topped off all fluids (tranny was a little low) and haven't seen any puddles since. The engine has leaked oil since I've owned it, but even it seems to be maintaining the oil level. Is this weird?
THe scary thing is that I'm pulling a deck boat to the lake this weekend. It's about a 2 1/2 hour trip. Hope it holds up. Wish me luck!
It is possible to have a worn spot somewhere on anything that rotates, and a worn spot on its housing, and if the two happen to meet in exactly the right place when stopped then you get a leak.
My Bronco had been sitting 10 months (89 EB 351) and I noted a leak. On checkup my mechanic told me the tranny does this when sitting and thought he would put in an additive in for my long trip south. He has since changed the modulator.
Could be your transmission - a little leak in the pan or pump ( I think - sorry) was how mine was described. If I were you I would attend to something. Worth checking to save the tansmission and at least not go through fluids.
