1600 Rpm Drone Info Request

Hello all! I am officially new to the board, but have been lurking and learning for some time now.
I read somewhere in this forum about Ford's official fix for the 1500-2000 rpm drone(4X4) dated late April 04
I had my brand new truck in today for the fix, but the service manager claims no knowledge of the problem, much less the fix. Any specific info would be greatly appreciated, Especially anything from Ford.

Thank You,
Mike "GMAN" Giuntoli

Hi Mike..

Had mine in last week for a Rear Main seal, and Rear Engine cover re-seal.. NO oil so far!!!! With hopes of some new info. on the turbo/drone fix.. They (Ford) had called Ford Engineering a little while ago at my request for the turbo drone, and were told they are still working on a fix with no fix/release date info.. Prior to that, (also another call to Ford/Eng.) they were told summer time.. Which could mean an Indian Summer, like Oct!! Hope they meant this year!!! It is the last issue I'm dealing with.. Well,, unless something else creeps up..

What is the build date of your truck/engine? Kinda taking a poll..

My Build date is 4/26/2004
No, that is not a misprint.
The truck is less than three weeks old.
Custom built at the Kentucky Plant.
Tank You For the info,

I have a copy of the bulletin on the turbo pedestal for the droan with the part number somewhere. It only applies to 4 X 2 models at this time. As soon as I find it I will post if someone does'nt beat me to it. Welcome to the forum. You can learn a lot from the people here. Great bunch of people.
I took my truck to the dealer with the info and the morons still couldnt fix it. They no problem found it. I have gotten used to it now and will just live with it. The truck runs so good I am not going to mess with it. It is the only concern I have had so far so guess I am lucky.

And is for the 03 model engine. The 04 has a different turbo and bracket. Why the fix for a 4x2 and not a 4x4 is something no one understands.

One of those mysteries of the cosmos....

Do you know if this fix applies to engines in 04 bodies? I have an 04 with an engine build date of 8/29/04.

Thanks.

I don't recall what the 03/04 cutoff date is for the 03 engines. The dealer should be able to look at your OASIS and tell you if yours is elligible for the fix. Or run your VIN# over on:
http://flatratetech.com/6literpowers...ultimatebb.cgi
in the OASIS section.
