I own a 1999 F-250 deisel that as of yesterday morning has a bad vibration during take of. If I push on the gas it goes away. When i bearly use the gas it vibrates terribly. Is it possible an injector went bad? Where can I find a manual on this motor since there isn't an F-250 book.
Check eBay for manuals. There are usually some manuals on CD there. As for the injector, I would think it would perform poorly at idle also but I'm not sure. Do you have an automatic? Could be the torque convertor going out. You may want to have it scanned for codes and see what comes up.
Yes it is an automatic. Just had the torque converter replaced a couple of months ago. It does run bad at an idle to but the vibration is the worst when driving at low rpm. Dealer told me that 1999 are have alot of injector problems along with torgue converter problems. I am very good at working on my gas trucks but a little dumb when it comes to deisel. Thanks.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 16-Mar-02 AT 11:59 PM (EST)]its possible an injector went bad. we had a few go out on one of are 99's with less than 50000 on it. good thing ford has 100k on the motor so it didn't cost us anything. just don't tell ford our driver put a little gas in by mistake
also check your u-joints. I and many others have seen these to be the main culpret for bad vibrations.
Does it just do it when the engine is cold or all the time. If you are under 100k you still have a warranty on that engine. Injectors are covered,(usually).;-)
Again, I think you should have it scanned for codes. These engine have a ton of sensors and EVERYTHING is controlled by the pcm. Scanning the pcm is the cheapest way to find out what is wrong even if YOU want to replace the parts.
