nerf bars, running boards, 2002 Screw

Any suggestions on nerf bars or running boards for a 2002 Screw.
The truck is red over silver.

I need something with multi. attach points that will not bend...strong...to hold up my load...lol

Assume silver/chrome will look best on the truck

Peace

Some general thoughts on Nerf Bars from a former post of mine.

I really like the chrome nerf bars but the black would work also.

I think that Westin is the number one product to beat. You should keep in mind that for looks, a stainless Nerf Bar will not rust but the stainless over time will change color and lose its ability to shine. A chrome finish (if kept clean and waxed) will shine forever. The platinum version with a lifetime guarantee is available. I installed a set on my F150 03 by myself and I am not that good with tools. Very easy. I bought them from accessconnect.com Free shipping and the price was competitive. Hope this helps...

From a Westin informational blurb:

"After analyzing the stainless market, Westin found that most products had a dull, yellowish tint right out of the box. Salt spray testing also revealed that unplated stainless does in fact rust. Although the rust doesn't occur in the traditional way, the finish becomes chalky and pitted. Once tarnished, the consumer can never bring it back to its original luster. In keeping with Westin tradition of industry leadership, their engineers developed the "Platinum CPS chrome plated stainless steel" Step Bar which offers the durability of stainless with the lifetime brilliance of chrome. Black powder coat over stainless steel also available."

I bought my chrome nerf/step bars from the Ford dealer and installed them myself. They look very much like the Westin bars (in fact, they are probably made by Westin), however, they have the FORD name embossed in the step areas, and I liked the way they look.
I installed them myself in about 2 hours, with ordinary tools and no lift. They are very strong, and after almost 3 years on the truck, they look as good as new.

You can't go wrong with either the Ford or Westin bars, IMO. Good luck!

Superbru,

I have to laugh. It took me 2 hours to install my nerf bars also. 1 1/2 hours for the drivers side and then 1/2 hour for the passenage side once I understood the process. LOL

Mine are almost a year old and look just like the day I installed them. But I do a lot of waxing.

They seem solid but I have not looked under the truck to see if any of the bolts have loosened. Have you had a look at yours? If so, did you need to retighten any bolts?
