door cracks how big?

lve gone threw all the post on door cracks. What i really want to know is how big they get. Will these cracks contiue to the other side of the window frame making it weak or will they stop at a certain point?Does ford give a reason,ie cabin pressure, door alignment ect.

The TSB only says "This may be caused by excessive stress on the outer door panel."

Yeah, about like the picture in the other current thread of the red F150.
Mine only get so big and stop. So far, I've just put touch up on them,
which isn't a perfect fix, but stops rust and water from getting in.

I had it on my old 2000 F150. It was somewhere between 1/4' and 1/2" inch.

maybe some of the guys like racerguy can help us get the ball started how can we make ford realize this is there problem and they should step up and take care of it

I was in my ford dealer the other day and asked if it was covered and the sevice writer told me that Body work is covered for five years but she looked it up and ford will only pay if it's under 3/36 warranty that is such bull a few years ago they recalled ther trucks to repaint I think they should recall for this

Hey Guys, Just Letting You Know That I Had The Same Problem, I Went Into The Dealer And Told Them I Herd From A Body Shop That This Was A Silent Recall On The Doors, Without ?'s They Fixed It Hands Down. They Also Fixed The Rust On My Tailgate On The Inside Bottom Seam. That Was Also Recalled. The Cracks Come From Too Much Stress In The Former At The Manufacturer. I Have A 97 F150, And Had 83,000 Miles On It When It Was Fixed. Dont Let Them Kid You, They Shouldnt Be Giving You That Out Of Warrenty Crap.

Dpr, This Is A Sign That The Metal On Your Doors Are Weak And Flexing In That Spot. Have You Tried To Talk To The Dealer About The Problem? You Must Be Persistant. I Had Talked To A Buddy About His Truck And He Has A 98 F150. He Also Took His In About 3 Months Ago, And Also Got His Fixed, But It Took Him Some Complaining. But When You Go In Make Sure They Also Look For The Rust On The Inside Bottom Seam Of The Tailgate. I Had That Covered Too. Good Luck

I had those nasty crack on both doors of my 97, had Ford dealer ship repair them about two years ago. (with no hassel). Just recently noticed the drivers side door now has another crack about 1/4" long. Don't think they will repair it twice but I'm going to ask them since they did the original repair. It looks like the same exact location as it was the first time.
