TPS Code
1998 F150 4.2L 2WD
Problem:
Problem:
- Truck was "surging" not missing. Got worse with A/C on. Finally threw a check engine light. TPS code.
- Replaced TPS three times, check engine finally went away.
- Started Idling rough, would nearly die when stopped at light in gear. Found vacuum leak, solved problem.
- Check engine light, MAF "not compatible with TPS". Unplugged MAF replugged, light went away for about two days. Finally bit the bullet and replaced the MAFS.
- Was good for 2 days, then transmission won't downshift with accelerator. Will manually or by turning OD off.
- TPS code came back.
- Check engine light started flashing and engine started missing. TPS code and #3 missing.
- Reset codes and truck started running smoothly, no miss, but still has TPS code and transmission won't downshift.

Hi Dave and welcome to the forum 
Can you get the actual code numbers instead of the description? That makes it easier for us to look it up in the manual.
Did you use genuine Ford TPS's or aftermarket ones?
