More Power

I've got an 87' Ranger that has about 120,000 miles on it. I've got a four inch lift, and 33'x12.50' tire on it. I've changed the gears out in the rear and I'm about to change the front. Although I've changed the gears, I'm still not getting enough power. I'm wondering if it would be cheaper, better, or both to either get a turbo charger, or dump a bigger small-block in it. I've also thought about shoving an RV Cam-shaft in it to boost the power. Any other ideas for more power?

Whatever you do, DO NOT put it in 4WD before changing out the gears in the front!!!!!

What else can I stick on it or in it to increase power without really decreasing my account balance?

I've got a 2.9L V6. It doesn't seem to have that much power. I've gone from a 3.73 gear ratio in the back to a 4.56. I'm also in the process of doing the same to the front.

cough, 302, cough 351w cough, www.advanced adapters.com, cough www.jamesduff.com. I think your money would be better spent on a bigger engine, that stock can give much more power, than a 2.9 v6 with all kinds of mods. Not saying the 2.9 is a bad engine, just saying if your looking for alot more power to turn those 33's, id probablly go with a 302/351w. The conversions for them seem pretty common.

Where can I go to get more information about conversions? I'm just trying to do the homework to see how much money and time is going into this.

just try typing in v8 ranger, or 302 ranger, etc in your favorite search engine, and you should come up with alot. Also the james duff link i posted above has a section on conversions if you didnt see it. Yeah, and just to clarify the advanced adapters link is supposed to be www.advancedadapters.com

You might want to post this in the V-6 forum also, they have a lot of guys talk about power increases.
