Turbocharger bolts
I have a nagging problem: the top two turbo bolts back out frequently. Red Loctite doesn't seem to do the job because of the high temperatures. I understand that this is not all that rare a problem with the 7.3 engine, but I have yet to hear a viable solution. Thanks for any help that you can give.

Turbocharger bolts
Those bolts have been a pain in the **** since we started using that type of turbo mount. Unless you have easy access to it (I think the turbo is under the cowling) it is not going to be an easy fix. Here is what I would try: Drill the holes that the bolts go into and install helicoils in the holes (they are 10 mm by 1.5 threads). If the turbo is under the cowl it will have to be removed to do this. Then discard those cheap 8.8 grade bolts and get a couple allen head bolts, which are 12.9 grade, and torque them to whatever the max torque value is for a 10 mm bolt (probably 40 ft. lb.) The problem (one of them) is the aluminum adapter that the turbo bolts to -- it should have been helicoiled from the factory and a good quality set of bolts used from the start. If your truck is still under warranty, make them replace the turbo -- both Ford and Navistar have known about this problem all along and done nothing to correct it.
