Starter problems

Earlier tonight I tried to start my truck,nothing.The interior lights went dim and so did the dash lights.I turned the key off and in a few seconds the lights got bright again.I tried to start it again,same thing.I then checked the battery voltage and it was 9.88 volts with the terminals on it.I took the terminals off and the battery volts were 12.75.I then checked all connections,starter,battery,etc....ok.I tried starting it again and it was a very low clicking coming from the mega fuse and relay box under the hood.Any ideas? Bad starter?

When you checked the battery voltage and it was 9.88V was that on the battery posts or on the battery terminals?

The battery was bad.Took it back to Discount auto parts and they did a load test and it failed.Luckily it had a 3yr replacement warranty,which only 2 yrs were on it.Gave me a new one,installed it and she started rite up.BTW,what would make the battery go bad like that?

The particular battery was a lemon...overcharging from a bad voltage regulator...too many accidental full discharges...Florida summer heat...could be any reason, could be a combination of several reasons.
