Quick clarification
I've heard two different answers from my buddies...when I start my 400 in the morning it backfires out the carb. Is that because my choke pulldown is too far open or too far closed?
A side note--to let my throttle solenoid extend, I have to have the pedal down while I start the motor. Is that a contributor to the backfiring?

On mine, I have to bump the throttle to give room for the throttle solenoid's arm to extend, otherwise it will hit the throttle lever and can't extend to raise the idle. If I don't bump the gas, the idle lever rests on the standard idle screw and the idle is too low. Is it possible that doing that during startup causes a backfire?
If not, is my choke plate too far open or too shut?
