Thumbs up 2.5" Tuff Country Leveling Kit W/Before & After pics in gallery

Hello,
I have turned to the forum in the past about what exhaust to choose and came up with a winner - truck sounds awsome ang get many compliments, but anyway, I have recently been searching around the forum about leveling/lift kits and based on all the info and input you guys have submitted this is what I have come up with I purchased a Tuff country 2 1/2" leveling kit from suspension connection (got link from a thread on FTE) and based on my measurements I added a 1" add-a-leaf in the rear, replaced all the shocks (you gotta have the new shock look w/the new lift) added 315 BFG M/T's (hesatantly) and 16x8 Ultra 51 series wheels. Started on a friday night in my garage and finished saturday around noon. When I was done, much to my surprise the 315's cleared excellent except for my molded mud flaps, they had to go. I appreciate all the input you guys have added to this forum it lead me in the right direction the only thing is I wish I was able to find more before and after pics, so I submitted some before, during and after pics in my gallerie and as much info as I can possibly bore you with to hopefully help some one else make the most informed decision and maybe save them some serious aggravation. I know its not a total beast (yet) but I am very happy with the results including the ride - Better than stock ! ! Thanks again guys and by the way you guys have some pretty serious looking SUPER DUTY'S

The thickness of the mudflap made it kinda tight. Once I removed it the space between the rear of the tire and well increased to about 1 1/4" vs. 1/2" - It didnt really rub but I figured it would be better for me to remove it than the tire if you know what I mean (Been there Before)

So, in full articulation, ie. off camber turn, there is a good possiblity that you could tear up the rear, of the front lower wheel well?

I put it through some manuevering as hard as I'll ever see meaning good bumps w/wheels turned enough to move you around in your seat type and did not rub whatsoever , so I dont believe any damage will ever occur in my days driving this truck.

Actuallly, Believe it or not after installing the lift before the tires were put on I measured from the ground to the top of all the fender wells and I gained exactly 3.75" in the front and 1.75 in the rear - go figure does this sound normal or what? after adding the tires the total measurement gained 5.25" in front & 3.25" in the rear. More than I expected !

It's not the distance from the top of the tire to the fender, it's the measurement fron the rear of the front tire to the lower corner of the wheel well that is most important.

Turn you wheels to the left, and take me a picture of the driver side, rear of the front tire and how close it is to the lower corner of the fender.

Im just curious.

I realize the clearance behind the wheel is the important part, just noting that I got more lift than the 2.5 inches and was wondering if anyone else has run into this? not complaining though. I measured at the top of the fender wells just as a reference point. It is close when wheels are turned as noted in other threads about leveling kits but they definitly are not hitting. When I said they cleared excellent its because I am glad they cleared at all as I was skeptical buying 315's and then to see they cleared with out hitting on the hard corner bounce test I figured things are gonna be just fine. I ran the truck all day today and even went down to my hunting spot with out any funny noises, or damage good enough for me. 305's probably would be the best size for this amount of lift with heavy off road use, but I think the 315's look pretty darn good and dont crowd the fender well too much. I would love to go higher but I do use this truck for work every day and getting my tools in and out are going to be fun enough as it is. I will post some clearance pics as soon as I can.

Opps didnt see your one post that gives those figures. I do wonder if you would get the same amount of lift on a diesel 6.0????

Truck looks good. Looks like it could even use another 1" in the rear or is it an illusion from the slanted driveway?

Looking Good!! Same color as my CC. Did you start with a 4" block at the rear end or 2 1/2? My truck looks like it has far greater rake, but that could be 'cause it's a PSD. What'd you pay for the leveling kit alone (without shocks?) and where?

It is, from as best as I can measure 3/4 of an Inch higher in the rear, and I agree maybe another 1" in Rear would off set it better. The rear block is factory @ 3.5" and the kit was purchased from suspension connection in Colorado - pretty good to deal with, the kit added 5 leafs to the original springs & came with U-bolts, Center bolts, and a new Trac bar bracket the cost was on sale for $259.00 rergularly $289.00 shipping was $65.00 and it took about 1 week to get. The 1" rear leafs were around $59.00 + shipping (was an after thought & ordered separatly. As far as the same lift on a diesel I am going to be doing a lift on a friends C.C. 6.0L in another week or so and I think were going to go with a 4" - Its got a pretty steep rake about 2-2.5" and he does tow and haul stuff so I think he will be happier w/ the 4" if any one has experience with lifting a C.C. Diesel please feel free to give some input.
