Starting Problems
I had previous starting problems of which seemed to be solved by redoing some crappy wiring from coil to dist. and getting a new cap and rotor, along with full cooling system flush, etc. The plugs look ok, but i will replace them soon. I have a really crappy holley stock 2bbl carb on top of a stock intake. This has the tiny filter in front of it and everything.
It looks like it is corroding and rusting inside the carb and on the butterflies. I ran out of gas today ( i think, my gauge doesn't work) put a few gallons of gas in it to get home on, and it wouldn't start. I had a friend pour gas down the carb and it took a long 5 minute process of pouring a little gas in the carb and trying to start and i finally coaxed it to start.
It just feels like an unreliable truck even if it is full of gas, I think it may have starting problems. Do you think this could be caused by a crapped fuel pump? would a fuel cell be a good idea for this truck, seeing as how I can't tell how much gas is in it, with the intermittent gauge.
What i am mainly trying to ask is what else could starting problems like this, and so intermittently having the problems be caused by? Spark should be good, with new wires and plugs, etc. I think my carb may be ****ty, along with the fuel pump?
Any ideas? Thanks alot for the help.

Some things to think about:
Have you replaced the fuel filter? Could be getting clogged.
When you replaced the cap and rotor did you also replace the points and condenser? Strongly suggest upgrading this to a Pertronix or simular.
I would not recommend a fuel cell. To much trouble and if not installed right could be dangerours. I would instead fix the existing gauge.
Good luck and if you have more questions ask away,
