not to burst any ones bubble but i lost two friends two years ago one was 40 with two kids and a wife the other was 33 with a girl friend and a big family. heck just last year i lost my best freind of twelve years, he was only 21. not one of them had thought about this question because they were still young. i still see my buddies parents all the time and with three kids and a wife it's made me think about it. the only thing you can do is try and save as much as you can. i like to spend money as much as the next guy so for me its been locking money away into trusts so they grow over the years and in the event of my death my wife can use the money to pay the bills with out getting hit with taxes.

Yes, set up a living trust. It will avoid probate. That will save a lot of time and money.

you bet I have a plan for the day I hit 85:

1.) gonna buy the fastest Ferrari available as a birthday present to myself
2.) gonna get a 25 year old girlfriend with big "you-know-whats"
3.) gonna drive my new Ferrari and show off my new girlfriend for at least 15 minutes.
4.) hire 6 undertakers to get the smile off my face

When I get too old to drive? I'll just do what everybody else does:

No one's EVER too old to drive there!

Well with the IRA, 401 K and life ins, there isn't much more to do.

Back on the soap box. You folks with 63 years to think about it: Do the math.
You can put a LITTLE money in every year and be miles ahead of the folks who wake up one day at 55 and decide to plan for retirement. It's hard to do, but once you get it going, it gets easier. Put half of every raise into the fund for example. I started in my 20's and I'm still not comfy with the amount.

Good luck.

At 85, maybe I'll retire.

In reality, I'll probably just roll over in my grave to celebrate my birthday.

Hey, another thing to think about. The herd thins out with the males dropping first. So, if you live to a ripe old age, and you are still, shall we say, "upright", you become in demand. Proof: A buddy of mine reports his mom just moved into Siezure World. The first question to a new male resident from the old hens there is "Can you still Profanity Masking Deleted by FTE " I guess they get right down to brass tacks. Now I know this makes you want to claw your eyes out right now, but think, when you are 85 or 90, how hot a 69 year old is going to look. (I know you guys with the 21 year olds will opt out of this plan, but that will leave more 70 year olds for the rest of us. AAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
