'04 Explorer Emblem Removal

Anyone know whether the rear hatch Blue Oval emblem on my '04 Explorer is glued on or screwed on? I wanna change it to a black one but don't want to tear the hatch apart unless I have to. Thanx for any info!

It is glued on, but will have 1 or 2 "pegs" that go into holes in the sheet metal. Heat it up with a hair dryer, and it should "pry" off pretty easily.

instead of prying, take some fishing line or dental floss and run it behind the emblem. use the line like a saw and it will come right off. no need to worry about scratching or chipping the either.
