Hi, I'm hoping you guy's can help. I've recently discovered a small coolant leak from a module in the engine compartment. It's a molded plastic piece with a vacuum line attached to the top of it. One heater line leads into it from the thermostat housing and the other comes from the bottom of the engine somewhere. 2 lines then come out of it and go into the firewall to (I assume) the heater core. I know this thing has something to do with allowing hot water into the heater core but I need it's name so I can order one at the parts store. I noticed a number stamped in the side of it if this helps: F87H-18495-AA
Any help appreciated, I want to get this changed off before the leak gets worse.
Thanks to Rockledge and Johare. Heater Control valve was about $30 bucks from the dealer and 10 minutes to change it off. I had a look at the valve when I took it off, the plastic had cracked causing the leak. The little vacuum control appears to manipulate a butterfly valve in the unit, thus letting water into the heater core (I think). When I had it all back together, I turned the heat control to hot and cold back and forth but the vacuum thing didn't manipulate the butterfly valve. I get good heat like always, I was just wondering when that vacuum thing does work? Does the PCM control it for some reason? Could someone out there check theirs and see if it changes with different temperature selections from inside the cab.
My understanding is that that valve only cuts off water to the heater core in MAX A/C. I could be wrong, but if you moved the temp ****, I would think nothing would happen. Try switching to and from MAX A/C.
