I was reading somewhere that the 534 weighs over 1000 lbs. that would be one beastly towing engine....almost like a diesel....has the numbers like one too....
I have a 1974 F-600 Grain Truck with the 330 HD, a 5+2 transmission, and an 18 ft. box on it. Getting pretty weak and I don't think they had very impressive numbers new. Does anyone know what engine family they are in?
They are part of the fe series dating back to the 1958-59 era. These were all big blocks that included the 330,352,360,361,390,391,410,427,and 428.
The 330,331,360, 390, and 391 were all used in medium duty trucks through the 70s. The 429 and 460 are part of the 385 series and are not interchangeable with fe motors. Check out, "How to rebuild your big block Ford" Good resource.
