Rusty Driveshaft?

I am new to the group as well as a first time ford and diesel owner. What a trip. A fun truck to drive. I have three gas, 3/4 - 4x4 chevy trucks which are all dependable but not as enjoyable to drive.
I feel fortunate to have discovered FTE, a community of common interest, where so much info is shared. Needless to say, as a first time diesel owner, everyday has been a learning process.
Comments on the truck: The truck so far has met my expectations. Fuel comsumption started off at 15.5 mpg and has improved to 17.2 for combo city/hwy driving. My plans are to add Stanadyne to the fuel after 5000 miles. Any comments on this?
My question to the group: The driveshaft on the truck along with several brackett straps behind the front wheels appear not ot be treated or painted for rust. Infact they are completed covered with surface rust. Is this normal
for the Ford f250 driveshafts?
