Anybody towing over 10,000lbs getting better MPG than I am? I have a 2001 F-350 PSD, DRW, With a 4:10 rear end. Only getting 8.4 MPG. 12.4 when not towing. Microtuner on the way, hope it helps.

Jimbo,
With summer fuel I'm currently getting about 16.5 with 1000 lbs in the back. I've only pulled my trailer (10,400 empty) once so far and that was with winter fuel and got about 12.5 with 4.10's

I am getting about 12.5 pulling #10,000 at 7000 ft. I get about 15.5 to 16.9 (best) without a load. PSDs are individuals believe me...they do what they want. I can say I have never ran less than 11 mpg EVER.

Thats great! Wonder why mine is so poor? Do you also have DRW? Just drove over to Mendocino and back (about 200 miles) for a couple of days and noticed my milage has increased to 13.8 not towing. Little better. Could be the fuel. Because I travel full time I get fuel from a different place almost everytime I fill up. Thanks for the reply.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 18-Apr-02 AT 05:22 PM (EST)]2000 F350 Super Duty, maxed out, PSD, 16,000 miles, 4X4, 4.1 rear, automatic, long bed, Lariat with a full cap over the bed, HD mud flaps and no other mods at this time. Waiting to install 4" exhuast if it ever gets here from the online store. Have gauges for trans, ETO, and boost. Empty truck, full diesel load 55 to 60 mph in overdrive I always get 21.2 to 21.6 mpg with foot and cruise control. I pull an 11,000 lbs (scale weight) travel trailer 8 ft wide, 11 ft high over the same roads with about 1500 lbs in the truck and full fuel load. 8.0 to 12 mpg depending on the wind direction. Foot contol only and it sihfts in and out of overdrive. I work the fuel pedal to keep it 55-60 mpg and in 4 th gear as much as possible. The cruise control is a little too aggressive and it is always in 3 rd gear....Richard

Forgot to say that this is in the Florida Keys 42 bridges to the main land. The roads are almost flat except fot the bridges where you may be as much as 75 feet over the water on 2 of them! Outside air temp is always 75 to 90 degrees
