17" Wheels and Tires on my 1995 Aerostar Camper Van

I changed my wheels and tires on my 1995 Aerostar Camper Van to 17" wheels off a Mustang. I had to ad a 1" spacer to the front wheels to clear the rotors and also had to flair the wheel wells. I like the way it came out and have done about 8,000 miles since the change. The rear flair on the passenger side slightly touches the sliding door when I open it. I also like the look of the flairs!

Is that an aluminum rear bumper? Where did you get that?

What size tires are you using?

I always thought heavier vehicles, like trucks and vans, needed taller tires for load capacity, and to keep the wheels further away from the road. I see in places like Tire Rack that a tire with a shorter aspect ratio typically has lower load rating than their taller versions in the same model.

looking good! As ugly as these things are they have a special place in history. You’ve held onto it so long they look like a big cybertruck, what’s old is new again
