Question Idle Question

Hey everyone I have a question about my truck it is a 1981 f250 with a 351 engine. The engine runs great except when the truck is just sitting there idling it starts to sound like its going to shut off for few seconds then it will ok for a couple seconds then go back to running ruff again and some days it doesnt do it. I have noticed if you press the gas pedal slightly it gets really bad for a min. If anyone could help me with this it would be greatly apreciated. Thank you.

Does it only happen when the truck is cold or when it's warm? If it's warm, make sure you're choke isn't sticking shut. Your carb could be dirty as well and could need to be sprayed out.

awesomefords, i am having a similar problem with my 77f250. the advice i have been getting is that its probably a vacuum leak, meaning unmetered air being sucked in by yor carb. i havent found mine yet but try spraying carb cleaner all around the carb, when you hear your engine respond to the carb cleaner youve found your leak. hope this helps.
