Ford dual alternators on Power Stroke Diesel each put out 110 amps (probably at 1500 to 2000 rpm) the second alternator is mounted down low and to the passenger side. It is driven by a serpentine belt that is longer than the standard belt. This option is not available on Excursions.

For completeness sake, I want to add that the 2001 ordering guides indicate that the PSD alternators are now 115 amp. I do not know if this is a change in the alternatore itself, or just a change in the rating.

Does one alternator charge one battery, and the other, well, charge the other?
I'd like to set up two seperate batteries to power an inverter inside my machine. So, would putting an isolator on one of the alternators to divide up some power to keep the two deep cycle batteries up while driving work?
