'99 Expedition lighting question

I just bought a 1999 Ford Expedition and noticed that the turn signal stalk that has the controls for the wipers does not illuminate when the lights are turned on.

Is it supposed to light up?

It is a 1999 Eddie Bauer. Any help would be appreciated.

Ive never seen a Ford turn signal stalk that lights. Only the window and lock buttons, dash switches and cruise switches.
