I have a 2003 ford 4x4 with the 4r100 trans, I was changing the fluid and the filter the other night and decided to drain the torque converter. I began with taking off the cover that is under the torque converter, got it off and saw that it looks pretty simple, just muscle this thing to turn until you see the drain plug. After a little too much time and exhausting effort I noticed that I had spun it two times around and that my torque converter has no drain plug. So I assume that is a new thing and I was wondering if anybody else has seen this one yet. I asked a local mechanic and he said that if ford changed it that it has been very recently. Just a little information there.
I have an early '99 and have drained the tranny and TC twice since I've had it. The plug is there for my truck. Maybe they did away with it so the staelership can make more money "flushing" your unit..
