my boss has an f450 psd dump truck with 4x4 and a 5 speed. it used to run rough and the check engine light would come on no power what so ever. had to use 4x4 low just to get it into the shop. looked it over and found the wiring harnes that goes thro the valve cover gasket on passenger side melted. replaced valve cover gasket and ran much btter but not quiet up to par. if ya get it over 3 grand somthing clicks or what ever and she runs great. course this is just about redline and trying to keep it in that rpm is next to impoosible plus did i mention hard on the negien. anyt ways does any one have nay ideas what could casue this. we just chnaged the oil and oil filter new air filter checked the air intake for obstructions non found. had ford scan the computer no trouble codes found. we are thinking the computer is fried since the injectors shorted out as mentioned before. any ideas thought or suggestions on what we should do. it cant hardly hold 4th gear empty and loaded its worthelss.
Also, you might want to clean the fuel regulator screen. While you have the lid to the fuel bowl off, take a Q-tip and gently insert into the hole at the top right of the fuel bowl and clean it.
we just replaced the fuel filter and cleaned the regulator screen. no diffrence. any body else have any ideas. we had a new injector pump/high pressure pump put on the year before. how do we check this high oil thing. another detial i forgot to say is acording to the factory gauge the engine is not getting warm. however after we run it i no darn well that the engine is hot just dont no exactly how hot. more then enough to make the gauge move tho. would this have anything to do with it.
well we checked the muffler didnt look blocked up but we took it off to see if it made any diffrence. it made no diffrence what so ever. is there any way to check and see if these engines are getting enough fuel out of the injectors. we think that the injectors and or computer is messed up from the gasket have melting. anyone have any ideas on this. Thanks alot ya guys have been a real help so far.
its a 1995. i have no idea of the boost pressure. we took it to ford to have the codes read they said there was none and that teh truck ran like it should. this is also the same dealership that tried to sell as spark plugs for it. so i dont trust em to much but its the only place we had time to take it to the next closest one is 50 miles one way. me and my boss are both very good with diesels but this elctronic junk id messing us up. no equipment to test it with on the farm. what do ya meen by injector buzz, or cylinder contribution test.
