What year steering columms are the same as a 1972 F100
With power steering and automatic transmission.
It has a manual transmission and power steering in
it now. We have a 302 and automatic out of a 1970
to put in the 1972 but it did not have a automatic
steering columm inthe 1970.
I think N2 is right, but I got rid of a '78 column because they started using a plastic housing for the tube of the column and I did not like it. The '77s that I have seen still had the same steel tube with a tapered cone like piece just behind the wheel like the earlier models had. The '78 I had did not taper because the plastic housing kept wires in it between the plastic and the column itself. So, I am looking for a 4x4 steering column with a col. shift for the auto still.
I am converting my '67 F-100 to 4x4. The pickup I am using to do this a '75 Highboy. It would probably be easier just to use the steering column from the '75 and make it work with my '67 cab wouldn't it?
Yes. The 2wd steering shafts. are different length, so if you have 1975 4x4 with a col. I'd use that. The col. itself may be the same, not sure, but if you got the parts from the '75, why mix 'em with the 2wd parts?
