Has anyone ever had a tire fall off their Bronco while driving? It happend to me a few weeks ago. messed up my rotor pretty good, bent my dust sheild too. Aparently some lug nuts came off two I think and the other just broke off... I say two because there were only two studs left, one on either side. It was either done deliberatley or it was the 37 super swamper boggers i have on there I dunno... anyone had that happen?
I unfortunately had that happen to me recently.Bought an 87EB on about 30 seconds of thought from a guy at work that was looking to dump it quick since he was moving back to the states the next day.I thought the left front tire was going down and stuck my head out the window to check just in time to see the tire come off, roll about 200 feet down the road, hit a low stone wall, and bounce over oncoming traffic and into the bush. Not good times.A tow truck, new rotor, bearings, dust cover, and that "$fancy$" flanged locking hub that Ford is sooooo proud of later I went ahead and invested in lug nuts all around.Since then I've had to pull the motor (it had the fancy solid gold bearings and two different heads),buy a new tranny (it had the rare 2 speed C6),and replace a tempermental aftermarket/shade tree installed Holley ProJection system with a carb, etc.I guess 30 seconds just isn't enough time to give a vehicle a proper inspection. Damn,I love this Bronco!
hey don't feel to bad i have had my 88 EB Bronco for 7 months and it has been in the shop in one form or another for 2 of those months. i have had to replace the rear and front drive shafts, u-joints, tie rods, locking hubs, wheels, brakes (all 4), both ball joints, front and rear shocks and springs, front speakers, flood lights, 2 out of my 4 rims (ok that one is my fault)and i might have to get my gears replaced. Plus i have to do some body work on it....... you know some rust on the body and a lot on the Tail gate. FUN HU????
But you know what i wouldn't trade my bronco for anything in the world.... well except maybe selma hayek.
If you ask me she would be the perfect addition to my Bronco
I've never had that happen to me but I have heard of it before. The big tires can put an extra load on the axles and studs causing them to break or snap after awhile. I'd check the other studs and see if they are deformed or showing signs of stress.
