ZF tranny help!
Is the top plate/shifter cover removable on the zf?
If so could a 97+ top plate be used on a 96- unit?
The reason I ask is that I am putting a 2000 explorer 5.0 into my 2000 ranger and would like to use the zf.
The 96- units bolt to the 5.0 (to my knowledge) but the shifter is way to far foward.
the 97+ units have the shifter in approximately the place I need it but bolt to the mod engines.
I know it can be done with a mazda tranny. And my mock up looks like it was meant to be there. So I am hoping the same will hold true with the zf.
By the way I have a 3" body lift to aid in clearance of the zf.
Any input into this swap would be greatly appreciated.
