Sunday evening,i was driving my 99 F-150 home and everything was going fine until...my truck all of a sudden cuts hard toward the guardrail on the left...the truck was totalled..it rolled, then landed in a creek on it's wheels...the frame twisted, top mashed in...it is tore all to pieces...not really a straight piece on it....so after i calmed down a little bit..i started to look around the truck and was trying to think of what might have caused me to wreck...as i went around to the passenger side...i saw the passenger side front wheel...it was layed almost all the way down....what happened was,the a-arm broke...and i was wondering if anyone thinks it would be worth trying to get Ford to do anything about it...because you know...a-arms aren't supposed to break after 5 years..and i was just wanting to get an opinion on whether i should even bother trying to get anything out of ford or just go ahead and sell the truck for $500 to someone for what little bit of interior parts and a couple other parts are still in fair shape...also...if anyone thinks that i could get something out of Ford...do you know how i would go about doing it?..thanks..
Hi michaelbarry,Welcome to FTE,Man am I sorry to hear about your bad luck, just glad to hear you walked away from it and not taken away in an ambulance.
Sorry man, totaled my first F150 5.4 last year. Also glad your okay. I'd do a search online for other people who experienced the same problem, and see if there is a precedent set.

A friend of mine had a part (not sure if it was the A arm) of his suspension crack on his 2000 F150 when he hit a large pothole going about 40 mph. Maybe there was some damage already and it just happened to give out that night?
Thank goodness you walked away from it. Sounds like the balljoint was worn out. I think its more about the 96,000 miles than the 5 years old though. Vehicles with over 15k per year are considered high mileage vehicles and require substantially more maintenance than average. Get your insurance to cover the damages and be very thankful you are here to tell your story. Best of luck to you.
Well..what hurts real bad is that i just had liability...and no,i would not go in to court about it..i was just wondering if Ford maybe would do something?..i'm not sure...but no..i would not take it into court...that would just be stupid..because Ford makes the best vehicles on the road in my opinion...someone stupid told me after the wreck..."that's what you get for driving a Ford"...i said in reply to that "I'd rather wreck in a Ford than drive a Chevy"...but yea..i'm okay...just bruised up..got a couple small cuts...but overall i'm really lucky...thanks for the reply's everyone..gotta go..
One other thing to point out,you had mentioned selling it for $500.Dont,,,If you part out the engine, trans, and what ever else you can,you should be able to clear alot more than $500.Just a thought.
