Swing type mirrors

Hello. I have swing-type mirrors, but the mirrors are warped, because they are plastic mirrors and not glass. Do any of you have any idea where I can get the original Ford type glass mirrors for the swing type mirrors on the sides of many Fords from 80-86? Any help would be appreciated. All aftermarket replacement mirrors are plastic and are not glass. I'm looking for glass mirrors.

You should be able to find some good ones at your local junkyard. That's where I got one for my truck a while ago. Good luck!

P.S. Try ebay as well.

I just went to my junkyard, and I found better ones than I had. There's a dent on each mirror though, but they'll do for now. I see people are selling new glass ones on Ebay for pretty cheap (just the mirror heads which is all I need). Thanks for the info though.

I was actually going to ask this same question.. the junkyards around here suck, so I was wondering if there was a decent aftermarket setup..

All the aftermarket setups are plastic and not glass unfortunately. I not seen an aftermarket mirror yet that is glass.

I just searched the classifieds for "mirror" and nothing really came up. There are some mirrors that people are selling with vehicles but I'm not interested in buying a whole vehicle just for the mirrors...

Dan, if you find a set in the junkyard that's all banged up but the glass is good, grab 'em! You'll get them cheap because they look like junk. When you get home, use a heat gun and you can seperate the glass from the head of the mirror. Then you could just glue the good glass back into your good mirror heads.

Nevermind, the ones I got in the junkyard are great. Almost no rust whatsoever on them (got them from a 1982 F150). Mirrors have one small dent on each mirror which is hardly noticeable. These are so much better than the aftermarket ones. The aftermarket ones (with plastic glass instead of actual glass) vibrate in the wind, and also make a loud whistling noise from the wind blowing the rubber surround in the mirrors. Aftermarket mirrors are pieces of junk in my opinion. The stock mirrors don't vibrate and don't give off any whistling noises of any kind. The glass is much clearer to look through, and I like the passenger convex mirror because it gives a wide angled view of what's behind my truck and in the other lanes as well.

If any of you ever consider getting aftermarket replacements for mirrors, DON'T. Trust me, theyre not worth it. My aftermarket ones rusted up after only 6 months of use. They also weigh about half as much as stock mirrors.

It was strange...I went to the junkyard the other day, they had one truck with a pair of mirrors, but that was it. No other mirrors anywhere. They must've known I was coming.

Thanks for all your help though everyone. Take care.
