I don't even think an angel ever pops up on my other shoulder, I just turn and ask the little devil, "where's the other guy?" we both shrug and I hit the gas.
Heck if I had a stroked 460 there would be no mercy for anyone, whether they wanted to race or not, they'ed at least get an ear-full of open headers around here.
I wouldn't have done it any diferent, at least they were nice guys, I know that feeling of embarrasment though, I'd probably turn a few shades of red, but if they were car smart guys I'm sure they understood what happens when you try to roach 44's w/ a locker and 5 grand, I'm surprised you even moved forward, you should have just heard a nice little crack and saw the remainder of the U-joint and yokes on the ground.
i did the same thing awhile back but in fishy's back yard...6th time breaking some sort of 1330 stuff out back...i got fed up with it and got jess to build me a nice 1410 shaft, with life series joints...i aint been able to break it yet...its really anice feeling to be able to side step the clutch at 5500 in my driveway jsut for the fun of it and not to have to worry about that vroom!!, bang pop pop pop sound out back. now i just gotta break my homemade front 1330 cv shaft once more before i call jess for it too.
Geat narration for a crappy event, I was anxiously waiting, sitting on the edge of my seat to hear about the poor camaro eating dust...but it ended the same way I've had many events like that happen. I hope you get it back togeather soon. That devil always wins at the signal light, we always seem to forget how much money that little buggar costs us, especially when we "know" we can win.

am i the only one here thinking how good it sounds to hear drivetrain parts snapping due to a well built high horsepower motor? i must be sick or something. i dont know, maybe cuz it means 2 things,1. you get to upgrade and 2. you did a darn good job of putting the motor together. i dont know, everyone says im a sick individual. the guys in the camaro were probably half scared to death when they saw something that big come to life. my dad always played sneak attack in his bel-aire. he'd shut it off pulling up to the light, sit there and wait on the little kid in his whatever next to him start revin it up. after baiting the poor kid, he'd fire it up and just watch the person go "awe crap" when the realized what they were up against hearing that roots blower whine.
it was always good watching them go from grinning idiot to turning white.....you could just see that they were thinking oh no, this is gonna be ugly and embarassing. thats one reason the small block chevy is nice....its small enough that you can huff it and still keep it all....or most of it all under the hood. its a nice and compact motor that puts out decent power with the right work done to it. i dont want my ford to be able to smoke anyone really, just be able to run them over. that will be fun enough in its own right. i get my speed kicks out of the 5hp briggs racing. i don't need anymore tickets, i live in one of the most ticketed areas in the state of pa. i got a ticket 2 different times for driving over the median strip.....its BAD. and im dumb enough to tell the cops to go stick it somewhere
I don't think that sound sick either.. I think that would give you a rather proud feeling knowin your truck puts out that much power. And the thing with what your father did.. Very sneaky. I can only imagine the smirk on his face. Mainly because my fathers the same way.. Except he has a 64 Impala..327..300 horsepower.. You HAVE to turn the car off in order to not here it. When he fires that baby up the people in the other car sink down in there seats awfully bad..
