Question Tire recommendations? '03 EB

I'm not happy with the tires my '03 EB came with (Continental Contitrac A/T). What replacement tires would you recommend? I do have Continental Contitrac SUVs on my Isuzu that I love. Cooper Discoverers were also recommended. I want a quiet tire that rides well. Any suggestions?

Try Michelin LTX M/S. Quiet, good ride, a little expensive. I had those and Michelin Cross Terrains on my 1999. The Cross Terrains were slightly better-riding, but not very long-lasting and more expensive. I currently have Bridgestone Revo's which work well for me since I have to deal with snow-covered hills in winter, but they're a little noiser and rougher-riding than either Michelin. Better snow traction, however.

I had the Michelin LTX M/S on my 2000, and really liked them. As soon as I get a chance I would like to switch over to those as well. I too, am not too impressed with the Conti's. I had some on a car years ago, and the tread separated really bad. I'm sure they've improved over the years, but not too thrilled with having them on. When I got rid of the 2000, the tires had about 11K miles on them and the looked like new. The guy at Costco, said he had some and got 70k out of his Michelins.

I just bought REVOS, they are great. Quiet, not much stiffer than the contis. They are great on the beach, unlike the conticraps

Michelins for highway. Bridgestone or BFG for AT.

Just brought REVOs for my 04 XLT (with 580 miles)and with only about 50 miles on them they are nice and quiet and this maybe a little crazy but I feel safer riding on them. The contis made me so leary, I was always hoping for no rain. No I feel like I can handle the rain and later this year the snow.

I just put new Yokohama Geolander's on my '03 Expy. Sor far, they have been great. They seem to ride better than by Michellin LTX M/S set on my F150, but I'm not sure it's fair to compare an Expy ride to a F150 ride.

one more vote for the REVO'S, I have them on my 03 Expy, quiet on the highways and aggressive enough for off road use...
im very happy with them!

Big O Tires

If you have a BIG O TIRES where you live check out there BIG FOOT brand of tires. I just bought some for my 2000 expy EB. and I would put them up against the michelins anyday. 285/60/17. took the Goodyears off and threw them away..... I love Michelins had them on my Ranger and my Aerostar. But the BIG FOOTS are just as nice, look real nice too, they have a real cool side wall design on them , and they were about $30.00 per tire cheaper.

just baught 04 expedition xlt 5.4l and had a vibration / shimmy between 70 and 80 mph. dealership tried 3 times to resolve the problem by balancing the "garbage" continentals tires however it didn't happen. finally and before i even had 500 miles on it the expy i replaced the continentals with goodyear wrangler HD p265-70r-17's....returned to dealership and ask them to rebalance the goodyears and it resolved the problem. you would think that ford would have learned a valuable lesson in using TRASH tires nad besides that....they destroyed the new looks of the expedition.
the continentals just may be good tires......for a KIA!!!!

I'd suggest Michelin LTX M/S for mainly road use. They are excellent and very well worth the price in grip, ride, handling and quiet.

thats another good, reliable tire....but i am sure you will agree that firestone or continentals ARE NOT options to allow your family to ride on!

If everyone is having so many issues with the Continental Tires then why don't we do a class action suit or push Ford to replace our tires? We spent good money for a safe SUV for our families just to have the crappy tires endanger their safety. I have a problem with spending $1000 to replace tires on an SUV with 18,000 miles. Why do american car/truck manufacturers push the cheapest crap on us the buying public?
