Biggest possible engine in a 66

Just trying to figure out what the biggest engine that a 66 f-100 will hold. Im sure anything would fit but im talking about without TOO many mods done to the chassis.

A 460 willl fit in there nicely. That is Ford's largest production engine of late. I hope that was what you were asking.

I have a 429 in mine. (429/460 same block) Had to make motor mounts but it wasn't too hard. Check out my pics. I posted a few pictures of the mods I did.

The biggest one you could put in without modifacations would be a 428. A 390 would be agreat option if you did some tweaking to the insides. THese engines are basically a "drop in" if you had a 352 in there before or have access to the 352 motor mounts and brackets.

a 429/460 will bolt in there with mounts from a mid 70's truck with that engine. It was an option then.
I have seen a 66 set on a Dodge dually chassis that had a Cummins diesel in it.

Ya i was hoping a 460 would fit nice and need to many mods. Thanks for the replys guys. Now i just hope the junk yard has one that the block isnt cracked.
