Just a note to anyone interested in the Tymar Performance Intake. I just ordered mine from Dale Isley (admin note: recommend but don't promote) I got the system with the black powder coat finish and an extra filter for 153.oo and change. This gentleman is very responsive and informative. He has a website that shows all the other products that he sells which is
Just thought I'd let you guys know!!
1997 crewcab PSD shorty
50hp superchip
K&N filter
Power Pedal
Pyro & Boost Gauges
MagnaFlow Turboback system w/o cat
DiabloSport Performance Transmission Valve
And the wish list is too long to mention!!!!!!
Just wait 'til you get that puppy on!! Installation is about a 30 minute job, and it only takes that long if you're careful about removing the old air box. I'm kinda **** about that stuff, so I wanted to preserve the original equipment, just in case. Now that I've had the TYMAR on, I can't imagine a scenario that would cause me to put the old one back on.
Some guys have taken the old one out in chunks, and it has gone considerably quicker for them.
Enjoy.
I'm not sure of the answer to that specifically. What it does is allow the turbo to develop boost at lower rpms, so the power comes on sooner. I don't know how to measure that in horsepower gain.
When I dyno'ed my truck, mine was about 5hp higher than identical rigs without the TYMAR. I don't know if the gain can be attributed solely to the TYMAR, but I'm sure it helped.
