99 PSD hard start FYI
Just a little info for you fello PSD owners. I bought my 99 SD PSD about 3 weeks ago. My job takes me away from home a week at a time. Before i elft my truck started just fine. Well, after sitting for a week, it cranked and cranked and nothing. Glow plugs were cycling just fine, but it took about two times of cranking the engine over before it would start. Well, i let it go until the next day and it took longer to start the next morning. Keep in mind the temps were about 30-40 degrees F here in Fairbanks Alaska. Well, i thought it was kind of odd that the truck wouldnt start so my first thought was the fuel filter was clogged. I went to the nearest dealer and got a fuel filter for it(big mistake, as it cost $54!!!). NAPA was out of them, because PSD's are the most popular truck here in Iterior Alaska!!! well anyway, i changed the filter out and havent had a problem since!!! So, if it cranks and cranks and the glow plugs are doing their job, check that fuel filter!!!.

Just to let you know if there is a International truck dealership, that they have the exact same filter that ford sales for a wooping $14.09. air filter $11.20 , $29.00 from ford. these are original equipment parts just different color box!!
