I'll look inot it but also, whenever I really romp on it, it really dies down, I have a new edlebrock 600cfm performer series carb on it we tried adjusting it, and it ran a little better when it was running richer, could the timing or timing chain still cause this problem? thanks for all you help you guys are great.

I guess I might have thought this over wrong. If it is a timing issue the motor will be hard to crank when it gets hot. Kind of like a dead battery. If it cranks fine but won't start then it might be the carb. As for adjusting it, very few people are good at this and I'm not one of them. I've rebuilt several crabs and only one ran better after I was done. Sorry.
Do you have another carb laying around? You could switch it out in less than an hour. I would do a complete tune up. Sounds like it might be a combination of things.. Please post back when you figure it out...
You said that when it's hot that the starter cranks over but not the engine- Thats clearly a starter problem. But maybe I'm just misunderstanding your message. If the engine is turning over, the first thing I'd do is make sure the choke is open when it's hot. other than that, I dont know what to tell you- it could be a lot of things.
if the engine is turning over it could be timing as was mentioned above. more often than not when timing is too far advanced it will turn over hard (like a dead battery) when warm. but for the longest time my bronco would start great when it was cold but when it was warm it would just crank and crank and crank (about 10 or 12 revolutions before it would start. well one day i decided to rebuild the carb and while it did run better it was still hard to start when warm. after that just for giggles i decided to retard the timing a bit and retune the carb to the way the timing was set after i retarded it. now not only does it fire right up when cold it fires up with less than 1 revolution when warm. btw when my timing was too far advanced it would turn over nice and smooth so i didnt REALLY think it was a timing issue although the bronco had to make me a lier out of me
thanks for all your input guys I really appreciate it, it was a little timing problem and the carb needed adjusting for it to run right but it still wasn't starting good, so I replaced the ingnition coil again and I replaced the ignition wires also, I wasn't gettin very much spark, now its better. WHen I took it to get the carb adjusted the guy had to advance my timing almost all the way, its in the shop right now and I won't be able to pick it up till friday but as soon as I find out what happened with it I will keep you guys posted.
thanks again

I bought a brand new Edelbrock 600 and it would never start good warm and would die on any kind of an incline. After 2 years of hating it I finally put on a holley and it starts good cold or hot. The Holley will take some tuning to run good under all driving conditions. But I think it's twice the carb that the Edelbrock is.
hey guys, well I feel like an idiot cuz the guy said that I was driving around with my choke on the whole time, I could've sworn I checked that but I guess not so far thats the only update I can give cuz I haven't picked it up yet, but as soon as I find out more I will let you know. thanks again for all your input.
