lower ball joint question

Not sure on 2WD but on on the second generation 4WD you can replace the lower ball joints by themselves but to replace the uppers you need to replace the control arms. Get yourself a manual like a Haynes and check. Well worth the $15.

Actually that is why I ask. I have a Haynes manual that says replace the entire control arm, but I had the ball joints replaced less that 30,000 miles ago and the dealership didn't replace the control arm, just the ball joint. It is going in again today to check them because the truck is having the same symptoms as before. Thanks.
