Your buying that intake off of the same guy I'm getting my EFI manifolds and Walker pipe. Just saw your name on here and was like, hmm that sounds familiar.
Yea I thought that was a real good deal , I personally would have jumped on it, but I wanted the efi's and walker more. Anyways I dont think I want to run a 4bbl on mine just yet, esp w/gas at 2 bucks a gallon. Maybe next year I'll look at upgrading to a 2bbl. I thought the 100 shipped to my door for the EFI's and a brand new Walker still in the original packaging was pretty good. Ive tried to get EFI's around here and theyve wanted an arm and a leg for em. I saw on ebay theres one up for 65 plus 20 for shipping, and I dont think I could pick up the Walker for an extra 15 bucks.
BTW where are you from 77?
I have to agree on the exhaust for, I got an exceptional deal on my header $89 off of ebay and $112 total including shipping. I have heard that on the 300 gas milage can actually increase as long as you keep your foot out of it, that is with a intake and carb setup. Let us know how much the header helps.
Can't you guys email each other so we don't get notifications on new posts that don't concern us?
Whoa relax pops. People might be interested to find out if gas mileage does increase or not. And you can also click on the Do Not Subscribe option on the bottom, then you wont get emails. Sorry for any inconvience to you.
The thread started out about mufflers, which I am interested in and which is why I signed on. You are right, the mileage aspect would be helpful and interesting. It was the other stuff that wasn't........... Nobody's uptight over it, just asking you to consider the alternative.
77Traded are you on fordsix under that same screenname?
Yes, why?......

Yeah I think I got a pretty good deal on my intake manifold, $150 shipped to my door and it's a new offy. What do you think?

Wow so you go to all this length to complain, and then what do you do but repost everything, thus wasting peoples time. Sorry if the post changed or what not, my fault, apparently the initial apology was sufficient.
I installed a 96 5.8 factory muffler on my fathers 78 300 6 cyl f-150. It had a buzzy, tinny sound. Fortunatly my dad couldn't hear it, and because it was...albeit..cheap stainless steel, it would last a long time. Before I installed a 289 V8 in mt 63 Fairlane, It had a 200 6 cyl. I had the exhaust pipe split before the rear axle and installed your..read cheap..run of the mill turbo mufflers with dual tail pipes out the back. It had a very sweet almost V8 sound at idle, but get into the throttle and it sounded AWSOME! If you think a V6 sounds ok with duals, split a straight 6! JC FUDALA
I know im a bit late on answering the above question, but i also put on a cherry bomb muffler on my 300 and at first was a bit dissapointed. so i cut off the last cat and now it has a nice low rumble, but not too loud. I had a question of my own, someone mentioned above that glasspacks wear out after a while and get louder. Does anyone know about how long this takes? I have had mine on there for almost a year.
There are many factors that will determine muffler life. How well the muffler is made, what type of material it is made of (regular steel or stainless steel) and how it is used. Short trip driving will not let the condensate from the exhaust gasses dry out so it sits in the muffler and rots it out. Add a catalytic converter to the system and you add sulphuric acid to the problem. High heat and extreme load such as towing will also cause a mufflur to burn out. Most glasspacks are of made of regular steel and yes they do get louder with time. The fiberglass breaks down and leaves through the tail pipe. My glasspack days are over. The muffler of choice for me are Hooker Aero chambers. They are straight through, mellow at idle and throaty on acceleration. I have not heard them on a 6 yet. JC Fudala
