The pivot plate moves and holds well. I am still wondering if it is the carb since I can start it without touching the gas initially, but once it stalls it takes several cranks to get it firing again.

Took it into the shop today and they said it is two vaccum leaks at the EGR manifold plate. We'll see after they change them out how it behaves.

There's also a ported vacuum fiiting directly in front of the carb that is just a plastic piece and is easily cracked by the air filter housing. ANY vacuum leaks will make you think the carb is not working, as I posted in a previous reply. I cursed my reman. carb for a long time until I found things like this and the electric choke power problem. Sounds like you found a good mechanic/ shop!!!

Well, the first two shops I took it to previously both blamed the carb. I went into this shop having already changed out the accel pump and fuel filter, so I suppose they had to start looking elsewhere.
