Boost Loss Need Info ?????

I'm New At this So Be Kind.
I Have A '97 PSD 7.3 Liter , Has a SuperChip 2 Stage Microtuner(tow Safe,hi-performance),Stage 2 afe Cool Air Induction System, 3 1/2 Cat. Back Dual Exsaust , New Cat. , A frame Gauges (boost, trans. temp. Pyrometer.). My deal is that i hear and read that most 97 and up psd's get around 15psi of boost and i at max get 10psi.When getting on highways on the on ramp i stomp on the gas and my boost hits 9-10psi. In the meantime i'm puffin' smoke and the boost gauge goes nowhere after a while it kicks in but it takes forever? While my exsaust temp is quickly reaching 1250 degress. I let off the gas ,not to reach 1250 degress (inter cooler time) , then i lose boost and power need help !!!!!!!!
Any suggestion would be greatly apperciated

Thnx
Rocky Mtn. 97 PSD

Have you replaced the turbo downpipe or just the cat back exhaust? You'll see a huge gain, especially with the 1997, if you upgrade the downpipe. You would also be better off with a 4" exhaust.

Yes. It should help keep the temps down.

Has the guages ever registered higher? Have you checked the obvious, and checked the fittings at the boost sensor point, and at the guage itself? If your tubing leaks, it would behave the same.

Rocky Mtn,
What is your altitude?
If you are at 10,000 feet you are not going to see the same boost and performance as someone at 1000 feet.

Question

Do you really need that Catalytic converter where you live?? Especially since Diesels do not produce the stuff that the converters are supposed to eliminate.

WOW! Thanks for the feed back. well i'm a mile high and/or higher. I go into the hills ,that the altitude can get pretty high. Yes, we need CAT's on our PSD's out here it stinks cause for one it sounds really cool. And another is for breathability also, But, My fellow black smoker and I were throwing around ideas today. I don't have an intercooler and i'm thinking of getting one but also I have a 3" down pipe and dual exsust. I was thinking of upgrading to a 4" inch down pipe and 5" exhaust what do guys think??? I was thinking the y joint in my 3.5" exhuast is causing back pressure, Any IDEAS??????
