No, it's just a heap & with running the air so much, I can't get acurate mileages. Besides that, the summer heat makes me really lazy.
There was enough evidence that the acetone made a difference. Most likely due to cleaning the fuel system.

Hello everyone, new here and really liking it. Acetone in an engine, cool idea. I used to work in a printing supply shop; they had a chemical called Hancolite, used to clean presses and other printing equipment. Hancolite's main ingredients are acetone and toluene. Since acetone seems to be working, and toluene is already being used in octane booster. I would like to see what the two could do together. Any thoughts?

Hancolite is a glaze remover not a blanket wash

Welcome to FTE provert!!!
If you read all the posts in this thread, you'll know to go easy with the amount of Hancolite you mix in your gas tank.
What vehicle are you considering adding this in?

I have a 1979 f100, 302 with a 3 on the tree. I originally bought the truck for the disc brakes and anything else I could use on my 1966 f100 shortbed, 351c and c6. After getting the truck home I just couldn't strip it. It was all there and had only minimal rust. I only paid $250 for the truck and I really didn't think it would be as nice as it was. The '79 wouldn't start and the guy I bought it from said he didn't know what was wrong with it. After a few ignition parts and realizing the starter was frozen, I got the ford up and running. It doesn't run too bad, but could definitely run better. I figured at $250 I could try just about anything.

As for my nose; I only used the hancolite rarely. I usually just delivered it to the print shops that ordered it. I did like the way it smelled, but would never recommend breathing it to much. Acetone shouldn't be inhaled to easily either.

Hey guys, I purchased a computerized scan gauge, and am going to do as scientific a test as I can. My test vehical is a 98' Neon 2.0L , 5spd , 105,000mi (approx). From reading the artical by Louis LaPointe( www.lubdev.com/smartgas/additive.htm ), I will "tune up" the car with all New Filters, Sparkplugs & wires, Maintain proper tire inflation, and anything else I can do to keep the car in proper order.
As his artical states though, mixing the Acetone at 3oz/10gal for gasoline and 1-2oz/10gal for diesel is what I'm going to use. It says that too much will only improve the emissions and not the milage........ We will see.
I'll test the local Gas stations (including a Indian Res) to see if there REALLY IS a difference in thier gas. I have in the past However, found quite a difference in Mileage in a Diesel powered truck(93'f-250) between the local Indian Res staition and a BP station to the tune of 3mpg. But the difference in price was enought to warrent the difference in mileage.

This Experiment will take me a while, as I'm going to take my time and be as "Technical" about it as I can. So I'll post my results on this thread and possibly others as I get them.

I'm giving this a shot in the o'le Neon before I try it in My 04' F-250 4x4 6.0L Turbo Diesel.

Have been watching this thread for sometime now.
About 2 weeks ago I decided to try it out. I drive an 86 F150 5.0 EFI w/ a 4-speed.
Most of my driving is highway. The truck has about 230K on it and the mileage sucks to say the least. Had also noticed a slight decline in performance over the past 6 months. Figure I didn't have much to lose, so I tried the acetone.

Put 4 ounces in 19 gallons in one tank and the other tank I added 8 ounces to 19 gallons. Can't really say that I saw a great improvement in mileage. Maybe a 1 MPG rise.

After running the acetone for a while, I started having some problems with what seemed like fuel starvation. Changed the fuel filter. You wouldn't believe some of the crap that came out of the old filter. If anyone tries this on an older vehicle, might not be a bad idea to change the filter a couple of times during the first few tanks. Seems to break loose some of the buildup in the tanks that occurs over time.

Also replaced the FPR and in the process replaced the injector seals. This gave me a chance to take a look at the injectors which look to be original (not 100% sure). In my past experience, the back two injectors on 2.9L and 5.0L tend to be prone to developing deposits (carbon?) over time. To my suprise, none of the injectors appeared to be mucked up. I suspect that the acetone may have had something to do with this.

The Australian Army has experimented with acetone (it has to be pure acetone, not the stuff from paint shops etc) in gas to increase power, less than 20% had little effect and over 30% ran to hot, 25% acetone to 75% gas gave a substantial power gain and maintained engine reliability, the only concern was it left a white powder along the inside of the exhaust system, also interestingly this only worked with a carburettor, it made no improvement in power to EFI engines
