alternator wiring

I am currently doing a frame up resto on a 1974 f-250 4wd. I have used the chassis and running gear to include the 360 from the 4wd and I am installing a 1971 sport custom 2wd body. Chassis and motor complete, I have painted the cab inside and out and I am now trying to re-install the wiring. I used the harness from the 1971 2wd with the exception on the motor wiring. Everything pretty much plug right up but I am left with one white wire with a black stripe and nowhere to hook it up. It comes from the alternator where it is stamped (STA) and has a black boot. It ends near the solonoid and has a female connector on it. Any help as to where the wire goes or what it is for would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thank-you ford tech, that answers my next question. I installed a holly 600 4bbl with electric choke and was wondering where to draw from. Thanks again.

You can try the stator wire on the holley choke, but if you find it's not working very well, you may need to hook a 12 volt wire from the ignition switch to the holley choke. The stator wire supposedly does not put out a full 12 volts.
