I found a good cab 5 miles from home. This guy had 3 66' trucks and 2 cabs behind his barn. I got a nice custom cab with cab mounts in good shape. floorboards has just minor repair work for 100$. The best part was cleaning it out. I found the original license plates for it from 66' thru 71' I guess the original owner just chucked them under the seats when he got new ones. In the glove box I found(along with a bunch of mouse crap) the orig. owners manual ,a owners man. for f-500 - f1000, orig. warranty card. The original 66' title,67' map and calendar. I had to tell somebody who could apprec. that kinda stuff. Oh yeah- a complete unmolested dash with radio.
Good one! 100 bucks for a decent cab is a good price. What are your plans? Are you going to put that cab on a later model frame? And in case no one else has said it "Welcome to FTE".
I would like to go original but after doing research here it has me thinking. power steering , disc brakes and a tank outside of the cab sounds pretty good. I have no idea how difficult it is. I'm still in the dismantling ,cataloging and seeing what I have to work with stage. Thanks William.
l I respect the people who build "original" trucks. I can't afford that and I believe these trucks should be driven. I like PS, PDB, C6, Flowmaster, Edelbrock, Pertronix and tinted windows. I run the crap out of my old truck everyday and I love it. Makes me smile just thinking about the ride home.
Truck nut cool cab find !! I thought I was doing pretty good to have found
A brand new craftsman 7/8 deep well socket. The owners manual you found
is worth what you paid, not to mention the 66-71 tags!
Thanks, It was like digging through a time capsule. I don't think the guy I bought it from ever went through it. He just used it for a shed. At least he kept a tarp over it (to hide it from the county code insp.)
