"Name That Part"

I think I have an exhaust leak (ticking noise, worse under load, subsides some with warmer engine), and I used a section of garden hose to my ear to try and locate it. It "seems" to be in the area toward the rear of the engine on the passenger side. There is a rectangular part mounted up high on the side of the intake manifold with a large bracket. The part is about 2" x 3" x 1/2" and has an electrical connector and (2) fairly large hoses going almost straight down. I can't see where they go or locate the part in the Haynes manual. I'm wondering if maybe one of the hoses or where it connects to ??? is leaking. Thanks for any help you can offer on this, or any common place I should be looking for a leak.

That is the DPFE sensor. If there was a leak around it you would probably be getting a code 401 for insufficient EGR flow. The EGR tubes have been known to crack, and the AIR tube that runs along the cylinder head as well if your truck has one. The AIR tube seems more logical because it uses compression fitting where it goes into the head. As they warmed up they might seal better.

Plugged a new one in and wow, it started with no noise! HINT, Started getting loud, then poop! Now I get this lug when cold... Like it's skippin a beat or two!
