Count down is on!

In a few hours we'll have our first Illinois Chapter Meeting! Looks like the word has indeed spread about it, not a bad thing at all! I hope I have enough copies to go around for us. I may print out additional copies shortly. Weather looks to be clear and cool for us to meet greet and conduct the chapters first event. I'll be sure to post the days event or perhaps a chapter recording secrectary could?...either way we'll share what happens. I better wash my "truck"(93' Vicki)
since I'm between trucks, etc. at the moment. Thanks to all who expressed interest, Ron

First Meeting

The weather was perfect and the trucks no less than perfect too! Bob, John, Tim and his Gail, Carol and I met at the grove for the chapters first ever meeting. We were able to relax get to know each other and discuss the chapter and it's first steps. We covered many topics and ideas about the meeting schedule, locations, types of chapter activites and trucks.

We discussed and filled the following officer positions.
John (JohnT) - is our Event Coordinator
Bob (Fairmontman) - is our Tech Coordinator
Tim (95f2504x4) - is our Chapter Photographer
Ron (Fastronald) - Chapter Leader

We took time to admire the trucks in attendance, discuss them and how they were personalized to the owners taste.

We discussed the frequency of meetings and decided that a monthly meeting best suits the chapter. Further we decided that unless a situation arises, Sundays at 1:00 is the time and day best suited to us as well.

Should a particular Saturday be a better day over Sunday or a later time fit the situation then we could change to fit the needs of the chapter for that meeting date.

The general meeting area will continue to be as neutral as possible. We did feel that unless there were an increase of members in a particular area that current area is best suited. We will shift from one spot to another to keep things fresh and best to meet the weather/time of year situation.

So......is Sunday October 10th or Sunday October 17th the best for those attending our second meeting? We will continue with the 1:00 time unless the chapter members desire a different time.

For our next location?..........I'll begin looking for a spot that would meet or needs and matches the weather. We should begin to select various indoor locations for the coming winter weather.

Is meeting in the Hinsdale/Darien/Downers Grove area okay? This would move us a bit farther west. This area is close to I - 55, Route 83 as well as the 94/294 tollway. We could use Ledo's in the Countryside/La Grange area as well. Ledo's is just south of the intersection of 55th street and route 45/ La Grange road.

Thanks again to everyone! Ron

Sorry I missed the 1st meeting. I was busy pulling 302 out of 1994 Bronco. Hopefully the donor 302 from a Grand Marquis goes in as easy as the original came out. Anyone have experience in these types of swaps? I would love to attend future meetings, and can help setup, etc at events and meetings having had experience bike events.

Fastronald, I'd prefer Sunday, Oct.10 for our next meeting because it's sooner than Oct.17! I had a really good time at the meeting yesterday, and I am looking forward to the next one. Thanks again to everyone who came to the meeting yesterday and showed support for the IL Chapter! This Chapter really does have the potential to be the BEST Chapter, and should continue to grow over time.

Illinois Chapter

I sent an e-mail to Ken (webmaster) and told him what we did and when our next meeting will be. That way we should officially be a chapter!

The six of us will be happy to see new and additional faces at the mid October meeting.

We could use a Recording Secretary if anyone is interested, also maybe an assistant Chapter Leader? I still have many copies of the sheets I handed out.
We may meet just a bit west of last Sundays site for October.

Carol's step side is one sweet truck, John and Bob both have very similar and very nice trucks as well. Tim's F - 250 4 x 4 is an imposing site to see, it is higher than my old 1980 F - 250 4X4 was. The quality of the trucks was very high indeed and great to see.

I'd encourage everyone to set the date aside to make the second chapter meeting. We're in our beginning steps and on our way to big things.

I'm sure John T will do a great job to locate some very nice cruise nights, shows and such for the chapter members to enjoy.

Bob , being a skilled and busy mechanic, can provide our members with insight and tips on not only repairs but a wide range of topics.

After hearing him explain an avatar question to John, I have no doubt that Tim will provide the chapter with some high quality photos to post for all to see.

Thanks goes to them all! Thanks, Ron

Hey, so far, I'm bound to agree that the 10th sounds better. The 17th is my Birthday and I tend to go into hiding on that day.
It was nice meeting everyone at the meeting last Sunday, looking forward to the next meeting. However, I need a little help with my truck. My temp control **** for the air must have let loose, I have no heater. Can anyone look at that for me? I'm not at all interested in taking that dash off. It's been 10 years since I pulled one off.
Carol

Carol if the heat isn't working I would first check the coolant level in the radiator if it is very low you will have little or no heat.I am not to familiar with the temp control ***** usually cable or vaccum operated some dash disassembly may be required to get a good look at it. Bob

Carol,
I dont know how far you are from Oak Lawn, but if you could get to me I could take a look at it. I have a 1994 Bronco so I'm familiar with the setup.

Ok guys. The heater does work. But you can't turn the switch to heat because behind the dash panel, it came undone.

Other than that, You're asking me how far I am from Oak Lawn? I'm in bolingbrook. Ask the guys at the meeting how I am with directions. I can get lost in a paper bag with a flashlight in broad daylight.

Heater

Glad to hear you have heat........distance from Oak Lawn?.......about a 40/45 minute drive in average traffic. If you want better directions to our second meeting let me know and I'll send along detailed directions for you. Ron
