I was going to post this in the electrical and wiring board but the server was busy. I am going to totally rewire my 67 f-100 2 wheel drive and was wondering where i could get some schematics or sketches and aproximate cost estimate.
once again,
thanks
Get the factory manuals on CD-ROM right here (http://www.motorhaven.com) from the people that sponsor this site. I did, it was $50 well spent. I used the CD to print out large scale diagrams to help me rewire my lamps on my 1971.
a wiring harness kit runs about $500 for a twelve circuit kit, unless your wiring is really jacked up id use the original wires and just fix where you need if you want to have at it should be interesting.
Find a donor truck in a salvage yard and pull the wiring harness. Pull your harness (label everything) and lay the two on the floor of a garage. Pull the best parts from both to make one harness. Clean all of the connectors and check any crimps for signs of heating or corrosion. If you find a bad crimp pry it apart and clean the wires with dilute acid. Rinse the parts well, dry, and solder them. Use dielectric grease on all connections. Use the spiral split tubing wire wrap available at Radio Shack and Wall-Mart to wrap up the harness. I usually split my harness into "system" harnesses that are easier to work with.
Of course you can buy one of those aftermarket harnesses and you will end up spending about the same amount of time on the job...
The wiring diagrams are separate from the shop manuals. The CD version includes them along with the sales brochures, a nice package. Since you already got the manuals, just order the inexpensive diagrams by themselves.
