I just changed my fuel filter (did my own work)---I bought the fuel filter in the Dallas area from International at about half the price Ford is asking. The Air filter is a different story---my 2001 takes a Motorcraft FA-1710 and Navister does not yet have a direct cross for the FA-1710. The one I looked at when I was at International was not as deep as the Motorcraft unit, and it has about an inch of foam glued to the filter element. Has anyone else had experience with Navistar filters that are not a direct cross to theirs?
I bought a Motorcraft filter from Nickols Ford in Fort Worth, but when I got home to Waco, I found out the filter was "used"---it looked like it had been installed for a while then returned to the dealer stock. Needless to say, I'm going to take it back to them Monday.
