Banks System or Chip?

I have been reading all the messages and everybody has an option about chips and exhaust systems and Micro tuners. But I want to know why not go with a turnkey answer like the Banks Power Pack system? I am new to diesel engines and trying to get as much info *** possible but it seems to me that the Banks system is very straight forward and simple no factory problems with chips and programming.
I just want a reliable truck that gets great mileage and tows a ton I would like to hear from people the pros and cons with Banks verses the chip, exhaust, ect path

Thanks for your help

I am not sure what year of truck your wanting to modify so I don't know which version of the power pack your looking at but the "Banks System" includes the chip. It's not a fool proof system for safely increasing your engines output, if you drive it too hard it will still break. I went with it on my '95 for only a couple of reasons, it includes a air-to-air (after cooler) unit that the first years PSD didn't have and also was one of the first chips readily availible.. The air-to-air turned out to be a pain to install BWT. If I was going to chip a newer model PSD, I don't think I would pay extra for the banks name.

i would go with the chip. Banks is much more expensive and your PSD is already intercooled. I ordered the banks wastegate and the exhaust side of the turbo and it was 750 bucks and it did not do even close to what they said it would do. Thats is just my 2 cents worth.

99 PSD,6-speed, 70 hp chip,3.5 inch downpipe, dual 3 inch exhaust to 5 inch tips, autometer pyro&boost gauges, banks wastegate and quick turbo assembly, just ordered tymar intake.

There is always another side to a query, and I am it in this case. I have the Banks powerpack on my truck, and am very happy with it. I have had no problems at all, but my engine is set up differently to the stock setup, so that may make a difference.

The chip is a cheap way to go, and it will give power up to a point. But if you want to go a step further, then I would say go with Banks (if you can afford it).

Myst, I tried to reply to your other post but something happened and it didn't show up. The Banks wastegate by itself will do very little for you, and the Quick Turbo assembly should bring the boost up sooner, but without extra fuel, you won't get much extra power. You've got the ability to push more air through your engine, so now you need even more fuel than your 70HP chip delivers.

Banks programs their chips to work with the boost curve made by their wheel and wastgate controller. Their current systems aren't designed for huge HP gains, but rather modest gains so that people can still tow trailers, drive hard, etc and keep the EGTs well within safe limits.
Because of that, their chip would probably give you more power, but not a lot more. A custom programmed chip and high flow injectors would very likely give you the big power increase that you want.

Should i reprogram my chip or should i get bigger injectors?? I tow alot and most of it is pretty heavy. I have a 32 ft gooesneck and i have backhoes, graders, trackloaders stuff like that so i was wandering if i got my chip reprogrammed then it may be to much.

With the types of loads you're hauling and the fact that you don't have a large exhaust system I'd recommend staying with 70HP.
