Does anyone have an annoying popping noise under their driver side floorboard. It comes and goes, but when it comes it usualy happens when at low speeds and not necessarily when turning. I can be going straight down the street and not hitting any bumps and it will pop. Oh yeah, the Ford dealer said they wouldn't even check it out now that I have a lift on it. This even though the truck was in for it before I had the lift and they tried to fix it. Ford replaced a body mount bolt to see if it would fix it. It didn't. Now "it's outta our hands." I love ford service.
Mine does the same thing, and it seems like I can make the "pop" happen by rocking back and forth in the drivers seat. I can feel the "pop" underneath my left foot while flat on the floor board.
There is a TSB for the body mount bolts (or one of them) that could be causing this. I just had mine fixed... for some reason the dealer said it wasn't covered under my ESP warranty (Premium) but he only charged me for the part.
I caught this posting going to the 6.0 site. I have a 04 SD 250 just picked it up last week and I have the same popping but on the passager's side. If someone has the TSB I would like to see it also. I just have a problem taking it to the dealer for work to be done. I have a 98 Mark VIII and the more I took it to the dealer for reapairs, the worse it would get. Just did my own brake job and found a rear shock rubber boot torn and hanging down, oddly enough the dealer just changed my transmission fluid.
Usually when my vehicle is cold and I either start down the road forward or back out of my driveway, I'll get one pop. I don't know what it is from, but I do believe that it may have something to do with the brakes releasing. I've heard of this with others. Mine only pops once so I've never worried about it. If you go to the right side of this web page there is a list of links. One of these is for "Recall/TSB's".
This is probably not going to help, but I had the front torsion bar making that noise being desribed above about two weeks after taking it home. It was not even bolted to the bracket on the axel. The bar was just bumping against the axel housing. Also chaeck to see if the drop down brackets are properly mounted. If you have a lift you probably have extensions and they could be mounted inside out, with the angle hitting the frame...or not.
interesting........... i was about to post about this same problem on my ex........ lol looks like someone beat me to it, i obviously got the same problem
Not sure about this but have you guys noticed if it gets worse when you are pulling a trailer? I want to say yes but not sure since the noise seems to come and go.
I didn't see any years on the posts here but I have a '95 that does a pop under the drivers floor that has gotten progressively worse over 4-5 years. It seems to happen when I am backing from a parking spot-brake to a stop-switch to Drive-and turn out to go [POP] I have found the rear ruber bushing on the radius arm is worn out and the forward half-the one that is hidden in the cup-is ruptured-allowing an extra inch or so of travel fwd-aft on the radius arm. Alignment and tire wear has never been a problem. I have been too lazy to replace the bushing. [3years] I popped in here to see if I can get this online somewhere.
