psd exhaust cut out

psd exhaust cut out
could i just find or build an exaust cut out for my psd ?I,m new to diesel but I am a convert.I was wodering if a cut out would create a problem?

I assume you are talking about a valve to create an open exhaust. You would have no mechanical problems running a cut out, but you would want it to point away from anything important, and it is going to be pretty loud if it dumps out any where under the sheetmetal.

you are correct fourstroke.would there be an advantage to doing a mod like this or should i not bother?i do a lot express way driving so i think the noise would be less than important.thanks for the info so far.this is ether a dumb idea or a original one i cant find any info on open exhuast for a diesel motor.

Lots of guys run open exhaust, with noticable power increases, plus it just sounds cool. I don't know of anybody running a cutout valve, but I can't see a problem with it, seems like it would be the best of both world's. A muffler shop could fabricate a valve for you, or you might be able to find one at J.C. Whitney

Hey SpaZ....i just spent alot of time trying to find that exact info out. I would just run straight pipe, but my wife doesn't like the noise, so in order ot have the best of both worlds, I needed a cut out. Someone on the Dieselstop.com gave me this link, i haven't bought one yet, but I'm going to.
