I was able to lightly touch each sensor with the KOnEOff in reverse. The good ones would pop and the bad one didn't.

That's the best I can do.

6_Myles, what do you mean they would pop? Could you hear something or feel it in your finger that is covering the sensor?

A little of both, more like a light fast ticking. Hope it helped.

2000 Excursion Parking Aid Sensor

I too have had a problem with my parking aid sensors. Have determined it is a problem with one of the connectors for a sensor. The wiring harness is no longer made for 2000. Does anyone else have an idea on where I might be able to find a connector?

Thanks

Thanks for helping with this problem with my Parking Aid System. One quick question, does it matter if when testing for the "fast ticking" if you are in the 'Detection Zone' behind the truck? Or reach up to feel from inside the bumper while underneath or hang out the back and reach down from inside?

How much did they charge you to fix it? Mine is f'd up up right now also.

Looking for the PAM

I also have the same issue with the RSS shutting off when I drop my 2001 X into reverse. Trying to figure out where exactly the PAM is located on my X before taking it to the shop to connect it to the computer. I removed the dashboard, hence disconnecting the RSS on/off switch, put it back on and the problem began. On occasion I'll get a single beep out of it, then nothing. I'm hoping i just loosened a wire on the PAM. I get no "click" out of any of the sensors when testing for a bad sensor. I had read it was behind the jack box in the back but don't see it and have refrained from removing the whole rear panel until I confirm the location.

The PAM should be located in the pass-side rear inside the compartment with two rotating latches. Take out the Jack and look for a plastic box about 6"x6" with two plastic screw rivets holding it to the outside panel in the back corner. But I would look for your problem back in the dash where you were first working when the trouble first started. Recheck connectors, damaged wires, etc.

Check to make sure the pins in the connector are not pushed back. This would be obvious. If a pin(s) is pushed back, remove it a pry the retainer tang slightly up and reinsert. Tug on it a little to make sure it grabbed.

If that is OK here is a drastic solution. Take pliers and break the connector. Try not to mash to the spade lugs inthe connector. If you get them out of the connector, put them on the correct pin and encase the pins and lugs with RTV.

4 sensors to 2

Is it possible to convert the four sensors to 2? I have a ranch hand bumper with lights. There is not much room to mount 4 parking sensors, or they will be pretty close. So my question is, is there a way to splice the wires to eliminate the two outside or two middle sensors? Plus one of them is bad and I do not want to drop $80 for a new one if not needed.

So I have a 2004 excursion V10 my prob is as soon as I start my truck the off button is on no matter if im in park , drive , reverse. So do I do what other people said to do....turn key on put in reverse with parking brake on and go test sensors with my ear each one and hear if they click? Even if the button says off than the test should not work or will it ? Or where do I even start to diagnose prob ? Let me know.
Thanks

I have recently purchased a 2002 excursion. I have verified the parking assist module is installed. The bumper had been replaced with a facory unit that does not have the sensors. I found a bumper in a salvage yeard for $60 that had the sensors. My issue is I can't find the connectors for the sensors. Can anyone help with a picture of where the wiring for the sensors exits the harness?
Thanks.
